It's Stained! Not Stain...Arrgghh

Ok, I am better now. I would like to take this opportunity to correct about 1/3 of the worlds population on the correct pronunciation of the term "Stained Glass". (ok, maybe not 1/3 but it sounds good to me). 

So often I hear and see people talking about Stained Glass and using the term Stain Glass. Stain, according to Wikipedia:  A stain is a permanent discoloration that can be clearly distinguished from the surface, material, or medium it is found upon. 

If you have a stain on the glass then you have a problem! I don't know how the phrase "stained glass" came to be but I do know the glass is in no way stained. Confused? Wait until I explain what "Glass" is.... stay tuned!

Etsy - Day 5

Well, it has been 5 days since I first posted my etsy store. No sales yet. I keep hearing to wait a month or two and then you will get sales. It is awfully hard to wait when so much time and effort has been put into the store. Oh well. George Bush didn't screw up America in a day so I doubt I will set the all time Etsy sales record this week.

Trying out different kinds of promotion techniques. This is one of them. I am now a twitter guy too. What the heck is twitter? I still haven't quite figured it out. Some sort of communicative device used by people whom are more technologically advanced than I. If you are one of those check me out at twitter. Search for Brad Boyes. No, not the hockey player.

Breaking News: Nanticoke, Newport police investigating stained glass thefts 3:05 p.m.

Police are investigating a rash of burglaries in Nanticoke City and Newport Township involving the theft of stained glass windows.

At least 10 properties, mostly vacant homes that are for sale, have been targeted since Jan. 31, police in both municipalities say.

In most cases, burglars have forced entry into the home and busted the window frames to take the stained glass windows.

Homes targeted in Nanticoke were on East Church Street, South Prospect Street, and East Green Street. Properties burglarized in Newport Township were on Coal Street, and East and West Main Street in Glen Lyon, as well as Old Newport Street in Sheatown.

Investigators are asking residents with houses for sale and realty companies to check their properties.

Anyone with information is asked to call Nanticoke police at 735-2200 or Newport Township police at 735-2000.

Who am I?

First off, lets start by clearing something up. I am not the hockey player known by the same name. Believe me! I know! I just checked my bank account and I am still in the hole! If I was a famous hockey player I may have some money available and wouldn't be relying on Google AdSense to suppy my income!

I started working in stained glass in 1981 as a teenager. I had never heard of this art before but thought the course sounded interesting. Turns out, I was the worst student in the class!  I spent 2.5 weeks making a simple 6 piece butterfly! I am glad I got that awkward time out of the way. Whew!

By my third project I was nearing mastery of this ancient art form. Now, I am an accomplished artist and business owner. Complete with a wierd and dry sense of humor. Humour for you Americans.
